How To Prepare For The Most Important Moments

Today’s guest, Dr. Rob Bell, is a sports psychology coach who focuses on mental toughness for athletes of all kinds. However, mental toughness goes beyond the football field or the basketball court. In Rob’s mind, we’re all athletes, our offices are just different.

What is mental toughness? In Rob’s eyes, mental toughness is the ability to not only accomplish your goals but also to handle setbacks. While mental toughness alone won’t give you a trophy, lack of mental toughness can cause you to fail.

Some Battles are Worth Fighting, Even If We Lose

Rob’s favorite aspect of being in business is the ability to take shots even if they aren’t winning ones. He says it’s all about the opportunity. As entrepreneurs, we have the power to choose what shots we take. Why not take as many as possible? You never know what the outcome will be until you try.

Rob also emphasizes the importance of knowing your worth. It’s easy to be influenced by all the “no’s” and negative thoughts surrounding your work. Find your worth and charge accordingly for what you do best. You may still hear “no”, but it will make hearing “yes” much more valuable.

Every Door Has a Hinge

Rob’s wisdom for fellow business owners is to always look for the hinges in life. We always hear how doors open and close with opportunities, but it’s really the hinge that directs the door. What are the hinges in life? It could be one person, one moment, one decision that can make a big difference in your life.

Sometimes, we can only see the impact of these hinges much later in life. Rob’s advice is to appreciate the journey, as that’s where all the growth and transformation comes from.

Rob is ready to work with athletes of all kinds. In addition to his coaching services, Rob also hosts the “15 Minutes of Mental Toughness” podcast and is the author of several best-selling books, including “Puke and Rally: It’s Not About the Setback, It’s About the Comeback”
